Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance, preventative care and cleaning ensures your Amore product will maintain its elegance and refined style for many years to come.  Fortunately, Amore’s design team consistently engineers products that are not only quite durable , but will require little maintenance.  The prescribed maintenance and care will vary slightly based on the material, finish and application of your product.

Included with every Amore product is a complimentary microfiber cloth.  This 2-sided polishing cloth will help you keep all the metallic surfaces as good as new.   Precisely engineered microfibers harness water’s cleaning power to grab grime, fingerprints, and over 99% of bacteria.  Using just water, erase streaks and smudges, restoring shine for a like-new finish.

Easy — simply dampen with water, wring, and wipe.

Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel is one of the most commonly featured materials in today’s kitchens.
It retains broad appeal with its neutral color scheme and low maintenance.  However, there are some major “don’ts” when it comes to cleaning stainless steel.

Brushed stainless steel shelf

DO NOT use steel wool or any other abrasive sponges or scrubber pads.
DO NOT use any chlorine-based cleaner or anything with chloride in it.
DO NOT use an oven cleaner.

For daily cleaning, we recommend using a micro-fiber E-Cloth with just water.  Other options are using Fantastic, Windex, Formula 409, or any mild dishwashing liquid. “Stainless Steel Magic” cleaner and polish (available at most supermarkets) is recommended for removing water spots, streaks, and fingerprints.  Note, that if you have hard water, you are more likely to leave spots and stains.

COUNTERTOPS – Do not chop directly on the surface; the use of cutting boards is preferred to minimize scratch marks and to preserve your knife blades.

COUNTERTOPS – Very hot pots and pans should not be placed directly on the countertop. The use of trivets is recommended.

Brass , Bronze, Copper, Pewter, Zinc

These old world materials have made a resurgence in today’s modern day kitchen.  Due to their natural “living finish”, the surface color and shading will change (patinate) over the years.  Luckily, these materials not only age beautifully, but are exceptionally low-maintenance.

DO NOT scrub with any acid based chemicals or abrasive material (steel wool or sanding grits/sponges), this may damage the patina.

DO NOT allow acidic foods such as lemons to contact patinated countertops; these foods will dramatically affect or remove the patina.

For daily cleaning, use a clean, soft, non-abrasive E-Cloth or towel with soap and warm water.

It’s best to dry the surface completely with a towel to prevent spotting or glass rings.

You should clean the surface as often as needed, depending on how heavy you cook and how much dust develops

If you don’t have an antique / patina finish –  you can use Brasso on brushed, matte or polished finishes to restore the original luster and remove signs of age and wear.

COUNTERTOPS – Do not chop directly on the surface; the use of cutting boards is preferred to minimize scratch marks and to preserve your knife blades.

COUNTERTOPS – Very hot pots and pans should not be placed directly on the countertop. The use of trivets is recommended.

FOR ANTIQUE / PANTINATED SURFACES

Windex is great for day-to-day cleaning.

DO NOT USE BRASSO – this will remove the antique / patina finish and should only be used with non-antique/patina surfaces.

If present, always wash in the same direction as the patina pattern.

The materials exhibit a “living finish”.  You can expect it to change with wear, tear, and time.   They typically darken over time and will develop its own, unique pattern of use. So remember, the patination process is unique to each countertop, and no two will end up looking exactly alike.

Powder Coat Finish

Powder coating consistently proves to be a more durable finish than liquid paints, while still providing a highly attractive finish.
It’s highly resistant to impact, moisture, chemicals, ultraviolet light, and other extreme weather conditions.
In turn, this reduces the risk of scratches, chipping, abrasions, corrosion, fading, and other wear issues.

With the right type of maintenance, you can increase life of the finish of any powder coated surface.

AVOID HARSH CHEMICAL CLEANERS

Although it’s one of our most durable finishes, powder coat can be damaged by harsh solvents.  A number of commercial cleaning products can cause irreversible damage to the finish of the product. Once the finish has become damaged, it is much more vulnerable to fading, staining and failure of the finish itself.

For daily cleaning, use a clean, soft, non-abrasive E-Cloth or towel with soap and warm water.

It’s best to dry the surface completely with a towel to prevent spotting or glass rings.

You should clean the surface as often as needed, depending on how heavy you cook and how much dust develops.

Stainless Steel Baffle Filters

As air passes through a baffle filter, grease particles collect on the stainless steel U-shaped baffle channels.
Amore’s baffle filters are extremely efficient when compared to mesh filters.
The overall power of the hood increases with baffle filters compared to mesh filter design which can quickly dirty.
Baffle filters are almost universally required in commercial installations due to their superior ability to capture grease.

To Remove the Baffle Filters

Reinstall Using Reverse Procedure

Recommended Filter Care

Baffle filters should be examined periodically to verify that all surfaces and parts are clean.  This will ensure maximum filter effectiveness.

Baffle filters should be cleaned after every 30 hours of use or a least once a month.

If your baffle filter has a charcoal filter, YOU MUST REMOVE IT prior to washing your baffle filter.

Baffle filters can be washed in a dishwasher or in a sink with hot, soapy water.

Spray “Formula 409” or equivalent degreasing detergent and leave to soak if heavily soiled.

DO NOT use caustic detergent to clean the filters. An abrasive or corrosive cleaner may damage the finish.

DO NOT operate the ventilation hood without filters. This may damage the blower or other internal components of the hood.

Charcoal Filters

If your Amore range hood is fitted with charcoal filters, make sure you removed them prior to washing the baffle filters.

Charcoal filters SHOULD NOT be placed in the dishwasher.

Replacement charcoal filters are available through your retailer.

REPLACING LIGHT BULBS

Replacing LED Bulb in Amore Range Hood

BEFORE REPLACING A BULB make sure the light is turned off or the breaker for the hood is OFF.

Before removing the bulb, make sure it is cool to the touch.

These bulbs do not twist off, they have a push-in connection.

To remove a bulb, grab it around the perimeter with your finger tips and gently pull down so it releases into your hand.

To reinstall new bulb, make sure you align the two connection prongs before pushing back into operational position.
